I hope everyone is getting excited about coming to Cleveland. Our city has a lot to offer in the form of culture, sport, food, and of course Lake Erie. I have been very proud of my community in stepping up to make these Games something truly fantastic. Your Local Sailing Committee (LSC) got a late start, but we are moving forward now. Consisting of individuals from EYC, Tartan, Cleveland Couples Together (CCT), and Sandusky Sailing Club (SSC) (that would be me), our team is putting together a very exciting week of racing and social events.

I can’t say enough about the folks from Tartan. We have walked the factory floor and seen their commitment of people and material to make this event the premier event at the Games. The same can be said for EYC. Initially, the wrong people were approached and were given the cold shoulder, but once the Board of Trustees heard wind of it they immediately voted 12-0 in favor of hosting the Regatta. Since that time, they have been nothing but gracious hosts bending over backwards to ”make things happen”.

I mentioned CCT. They are local couples group that have about 60 couple members who wanted to make an impact at the Games. They have joined with sailing to provide volunteers and possibly housing for some of our participants.

The LSC has been concentrating on ”getting the word out” and sponsorships. Now that our media team is on their way and the initial stages of several sponsorships have been taken, I will be shifting to more of the details required of all of you. Be looking on this site and looking for email blasts with information on making your adventure to Cleveland a spectacular one.

Please feel free to post questions. I will do my best to try to come here once a week and answer the best I can.

Can’t wait to see you all!
